What's Going on in the Turtle Room?

What has been going on in the turtle room?

We have been very busy this September!

The students of the turtle room have been exploring the new toys and activities available to play with. Some of their favorites include play dough, water beads and kinetic sand.  They also enjoying building with the giant brick blocks, making cars with the K'nex and creating boats and castles with Legos.
Each child is so creative and we have artwork displayed around the room to showcase their talents. They have been strengthening their fine motor skills by crafting with glue, scissors and paint. So far we have made turtles, apples, pumpkins, scarecrows and flags.
They use crayons and markers each day when working on their morning page. Lately we have been coloring silly squirrels, matching fall pictures and been introduced to patterns with acorns and sunflower seeds.
We have been looking for signs of fall throughout the day and so far have observed a few trees with scattered red, yellow and orange leaves, squirrels and chipmunks stashing away snacks for the winter and Halloween decorations being hung around the school.
Each morning we sing our seasons song which is one of our classroom favorites! We also sing and dance to the Month Macarena and clap along to the days of the week song.
There are many wiggle breaks incorporated onto the day and we all love to move to the freeze dance, shake your sillies out and monsters stomping songs.
Although we move every day, we have structured physical education on Monday with Mrs. Christie Knox.
