Parent-Teacher Conferences

Open and regular communication between parents and school is encouraged. Formal parent-teacher conferences are held once a year. However, either the classroom teacher or the parent(s) may request a conference at any time in the school year. On matters of importance involving a child, personal contact is strongly encouraged.

Parent-Teacher Communication

Your child’s backpack and folder is the PRIMARY SOURCE of communication between home and school. When questions or concerns arise, your first point of contact should always be the classroom teacher. For any communication to be truly effective, it must be timely. Should you request communication from a classroom teacher regarding your child, it is expected that the teacher will respond within 24 hours. The same courtesy is expected of parents when contacted with a question or concern by the classroom teacher. Prompt and courteous communication will greatly assist in making your child’s experience in Discovery School a positive one.

Genesis Parent Portal

The parent portal allows parents to view demographic data, grades, attendance, homework assignments and conduct/discipline notes. Genesis is also used to book conferences with homeroom teachers. Paper report cards/progress reports need to be requested.
